Leeds United Eye Move for Former Ajax Star Kasper Dolberg in Summer Transfer Window

Leeds United are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, and a new name has emerged on their radar as preparations intensify behind the scenes.

With the club’s promotion celebrations now behind them, Daniel Farke and the 49ers ownership group are shifting focus to recruitment.

Numerous players have already been linked with Elland Road, and Farke is expected to play a hands-on role in shaping the squad—potentially exploring talent from the Bundesliga and lesser-known European leagues.

One such target is Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg, a player Leeds believe they can realistically sign.

Leeds Exploring Move for Kasper Dolberg Amid Striker Uncertainty

With doubts surrounding Leeds’ attacking options heading into the Premier League season, it’s no surprise that new forwards are being considered.

Joel Piroe may return to PSV, and while he registered 26 goal involvements last season, his inconsistency remains a concern.

Meanwhile, young forward Mateo Joseph is in talks with Real Betis and could also be on his way out.

This has prompted Leeds to turn their attention to Dolberg, a striker who made headlines during his early career at Ajax.

According to Voetbal Krant, the 27-year-old is attracting serious interest from Leeds, although Anderlecht have set a firm asking price of £12.6 million, with sporting director Olivier Renard unwilling to negotiate below that.

Despite the price tag, Leeds are reportedly confident they can meet Anderlecht’s demands, making a deal very possible.

Messi Once Backed Dolberg as a Future Star

Dolberg has enjoyed a strong spell in Belgium, scoring 33 league goals over two seasons.

While the Belgian Pro League may not match the intensity of the Premier League, his form suggests he could be a solid addition to Leeds’ attack—especially considering the club plans to spend over £100 million this summer.

Securing a proven goalscorer for a relatively modest fee would represent smart business.

The Danish forward burst onto the European scene with Ajax during the 2016/17 season at just 19 years old, earning attention from top clubs—and even praise from Lionel Messi. In 2017, Messi named Dolberg in his list of ten future stars (via Sportbible), a remarkable endorsement from one of football’s greatest.

While Dolberg’s career has seen ups and downs, a move to Leeds could reignite his trajectory and fulfill the potential Messi once saw in him.
