Vitor Pereira Targets Former Flamengo Midfielder in Key Wolves Transfer Move
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is looking to reunite with one of his former players as preparations ramp up for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The window is expected to be pivotal as Pereira gears up for his first full season at Molineux.
After strengthening the squad with three key signings in January, Wolves will now aim to build on that momentum for the 2025/26 campaign.
Pereira has already outlined his transfer priorities to the club’s owners, Fosun, with fans hopeful that the hierarchy will back the Portuguese manager in the market.
Among the players on Wolves’ radar is Flamengo midfielder Evertton Araujo, a 22-year-old talent Pereira previously worked with.
Wolves have reportedly made initial contact with the player as early as February, acting on a direct request from Pereira.
Evertton isn’t the only familiar face Wolves are targeting—striker Yuri Alberto, another of Pereira’s former players during his time at Corinthians, is also under consideration.
Wolves face stiff competition for Araujo, with European clubs Eintracht Frankfurt, Sevilla, Villarreal, and Getafe all expressing interest.
Frankfurt are believed to have sent scouts to Brazil to monitor the midfielder closely.
A key factor in the deal will be the transfer fee. While Araujo has a release clause of £54 million, journalist Bruno Lemos reports that Flamengo are open to offers starting at £9 million—a much more accessible figure for interested clubs.
Given Wolves’ past success in recruiting from Brazil—highlighted by signings like André and João Gomes—the club could be hoping to strike gold again with Araujo.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs appears ready to explore the South American market once more as Wolves aim to strengthen their midfield options for the season ahead.
