West Ham Board Set Expectations as Potter Prepares for Crucial Summer Rebuild
The West Ham hierarchy has weighed in on the club’s end-of-season performance and outlined the expectations ahead of a pivotal summer transfer window.
Manager Graham Potter knows exactly what lies ahead. While he’s now on a family break, Potter has confirmed he’ll remain actively involved in transfer planning throughout the summer. He revealed that head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay is already hard at work identifying targets and negotiating potential deals.
Potter Begins Ruthless Squad Overhaul

West Ham has already parted ways with six players—three of them long-serving senior members of the squad—on his recommendation. Despite the win, the performance was again underwhelming—an issue Potter acknowledged post-match. He reiterated that the focus is now firmly on rebuilding the squad when the summer transfer window opens on June 1.
Owners Call for Patience Ahead of Budget-Conscious Summer
Following the win at Portman Road, West Ham’s board issued a statement assessing the current situation and managing expectations. A spokesperson told Hammers News:
“It was pleasing to end a difficult season with a win and show glimpses of our quality. Now, our full focus shifts to the transfer window. There’s work to do.”
However, the board also warned fans that spending will be limited. Due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the club must sell players before making significant purchases.
