Eberechi Eze Eyes Premier League Glory After Historic Season
“Anything there is to win, I want to win. And I’ll do everything I can to win the Premier League.”
That’s the determined message from a jubilant Eberechi Eze, fresh off the most memorable season of his career.
His crowning moment? Scoring the decisive goal in the FA Cup final to topple Manchester City and hand Crystal Palace their first major trophy in the club’s 163-year history—a moment that has only sharpened his hunger for more silverware.
May 17, 2025, was a day Eze had visualised since childhood. While it was a monumental occasion, it didn’t feel like a surprise to him.
“I’ve dreamed about moments like that since I was young. I’ve seen it play out in my mind countless times. For me, it’s the manifestation of years of prayer and vision,” he said.
“I might not be as shocked as everyone else, but I’m deeply grateful to God for the chance to be in that position. Bringing a trophy to south London—something this club has never had before—it’s hard to find the words to describe that feeling.”
A Journey Defined by Persistence
Eze’s rise is a testament to perseverance. Rejected by Arsenal, Fulham, and Millwall before the age of 18, his route to the top has been anything but straightforward. But now, he’s scripting a new chapter in Crystal Palace’s history, delivering moments no previous generation could.
“You look at the players who’ve built the foundations of this club, those who helped us become and stay a Premier League side—it’s not like we just turned up and won something,” Eze reflected.
“There’s been so much behind the scenes, so many people paving the way. We’re lifting the trophy, but we’re just one part of a much bigger story.”
The Glasner Effect
Much of Palace’s recent success has been credited to manager Oliver Glasner, a figure Eze believes is taking the club to new heights.
“He’s a top coach and a top guy—there are big things ahead with him,” said Eze.
“He’s intense, he knows exactly what he wants from the team. You can see it in our performances, especially toward the end of the season. It’s about process for him, and once the team buys in, he’s confident we can beat anyone. That belief drove us all year.”
Eyes on the World Stage
Eze’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed by England boss Thomas Tuchel, who watched his FA Cup heroics from the Wembley stands. Back in March, Eze scored his first England goal under Tuchel in just the manager’s second match in charge—adding to the growing competition for places in the national squad.
“Being in the England squad is always the goal. I want to earn a permanent place, to be a regular. There’s so much talent, and I know it’s not easy for the manager to choose,” Eze admitted.
“But my job is to focus on playing my football, enjoying it, and doing what I do best. If I keep that up, everything else will follow.”
Now, with the World Cup on the horizon, Eze is feeling better than ever.
“I’m excited. I’m in a good place mentally and physically. The season had its ups and downs—some injuries, an odd rhythm at times—but now I feel free, confident, and able to fully express myself.”
So What’s Next?
After the best season of his career, Eze has no intention of slowing down.
“I just want to keep enjoying the game, entertaining, expressing myself, bringing joy to the fans—and of course, winning,” he said with a smile.
