Ramón Sosa Rejects Palmeiras as He Insists on Premier League Stay
Ramón Sosa forced a move from Argentine side Talleres to Nottingham Forest last summer by going on strike, but his first season in England hasn’t gone as planned.
The Paraguay international struggled to secure a regular spot under manager Nuno Espírito Santo, playing a limited role with just 550 minutes across 23 appearances. He registered three goals and one assist during that time.
Brazilian club Palmeiras attempted to sign Sosa during the January transfer window, but he turned them down. Now, with the FIFA Club World Cup on the horizon in June, they’ve reignited their interest in the 25-year-old.
According to reports from South America earlier this week, Nottingham Forest are open to offers for the winger. On Wednesday, journalist Germán García Grova confirmed that Palmeiras have made multiple efforts to bring him in—but Sosa has again declined, stating his desire to remain in Europe.
Speaking to Paraguayan media outlet Popular, Sosa acknowledged the transfer speculation but firmly ruled out a move back to South America this summer.
“I’m going to stay in the Premier League—that’s what I want,” he said. “I saw some information on social media, but I didn’t understand anything.”
However, his position may be tested if Forest and Nuno Espírito Santo decide he’s surplus to requirements and look to move him on during the summer window.
