Sam Morsy
With Liam Delap’s departure, talk of players leaving Ipswich is expected to slow, though some exits may still happen before the new season begins. Captain Sam Morsy is widely expected to remain at the club.
According to TeamTALK, Ipswich are reportedly willing to let Morsy leave on a free transfer despite having a year left on his contract, as part of their plan to refresh the squad.
There have been links to Saudi clubs, and Morsy is said to be open to a move to the Middle East.
In an April pre-match press conference ahead of the Newcastle United game that confirmed Ipswich’s relegation, Morsy stated: “Of course, yeah. I’m committed to the club.”
Would he be tempted by one last big move?
Verdict: Ipswich likely won’t want to sell Morsy unless he requests a transfer.
Although the midfield needs rebuilding, letting go of a leader like Morsy for free would be questionable unless he pushes for it himself. At nearly 34, he may still consider a final big move, but for now, it seems he will stay. Losing his leadership would be a significant blow.
Kieran McKenna
The speculation over McKenna continues. Last summer, he was linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Brighton, but ultimately signed a long-term deal to stay with Ipswich.
Recently, Football Insider reported Brentford’s interest in McKenna as a potential managerial replacement if Thomas Frank moves to Tottenham.
Despite Ipswich’s relegation, Brentford’s recruitment team rate McKenna highly.
Verdict: McKenna is committed to Ipswich and unlikely to leave anytime soon. His contract is lucrative and likely includes a release clause, but a move to Brentford would suit his profile. Even if Frank departs Spurs, a McKenna switch probably won’t happen this summer.
Potential Signings
Marc Guiu
Following Delap’s exit, Ipswich need a new striker. They are reportedly in talks to loan 19-year-old Marc Guiu from Chelsea for the 2025/26 season.
A product of Barcelona’s academy, Guiu made limited appearances for Chelsea but impressed in the Europa Conference League, scoring six goals.
Standing 6ft 2in and left-footed, Guiu faces competition at Chelsea from Delap, Jackson, and possibly Hugo Ekitike. Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, is also interested and can offer European football.
Verdict: This move makes sense as Guiu could get regular Championship minutes under Kieran McKenna’s guidance. However, he might prefer Strasbourg’s offer, which includes European competition, over dropping to the Championship.
Divin Mubama
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed Ipswich’s interest in Manchester City’s Divin Mubama, with an initial inquiry made about signing the striker.
Mubama, 20, moved from West Ham to City but had limited game time. He made his senior debut in January, scoring in an FA Cup win, and has impressed with City’s U21s.
Manchester City are reportedly asking for £10 million, with Lille also interested.
Verdict: Mubama is a promising, powerful striker who could flourish under Ipswich’s management. £10m seems fair, and competition for his signature is expected. Having him and George Hirst vying for the striker role would be valuable for Town.
Emmanuel Latte Lath
Ipswich tried to sign Latte Lath last summer, but Middlesbrough rejected their offer.

Northern Echo reports that Ipswich have renewed interest to bring him in as Delap’s replacement.
