Leeds United Eye Move for Norwich Striker Josh Sargent
Leeds United have reportedly initiated contact with Norwich City striker Josh Sargent over a potential summer transfer. Discussions have already taken place with the American forward’s representatives as Leeds look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their return to the Premier League.
After narrowly missing out on promotion last season via a play-off final loss to Southampton, Leeds stormed to the Championship title this year, collecting 100 points and finishing as the league’s top scorers, edging out Burnley in dramatic fashion on the final day.
According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, while Leeds are also monitoring Everton’s Beto, they have spoken to Norwich officials about a possible deal for Sargent, with a formal bid expected soon.
The 24-year-old striker, described as “unstoppable,” is reportedly open to a Premier League return. He previously featured in the top flight during the 2021/22 season with Norwich, scoring twice in 26 games as the Canaries were relegated under managers Daniel Farke and Dean Smith.
Farke, now at the helm at Leeds, was the one who originally brought Sargent to England and may be keen to reunite with the former Werder Bremen forward. Norwich are believed to be seeking around £17 million for the Missouri-born attacker.
Leeds are prioritizing the addition of a new striker, and Sargent’s strong Championship record—44 goals in 95 appearances over the last three seasons—makes him a serious contender. His familiarity with Farke could be a decisive factor in securing the move.
