Everton Join Wolves in Pursuit of “Dangerous” £17 Million Striker
Everton have entered the race alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign a highly rated striker valued at around £17 million, according to recent reports.
Since David Moyes returned to Everton, the club has steadily improved both on and off the field, steering clear of relegation fears during the 2024/25 season.
As the new campaign approaches, along with a move to a new stadium, the plan is to re-establish Everton as a consistent top-half Premier League side, reminiscent of Moyes’ first spell in charge.
To achieve this, Moyes is focusing on strengthening the squad, particularly defensively.
With veteran right-back Seamus Coleman aging and Ashley Young set to leave at the end of the month, Everton are actively seeking reinforcements.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Everton have contacted Manchester City defender Kyle Walker about a potential move.
However, they face competition from several European clubs for the England international.
Everton are therefore exploring multiple options. According to The Guardian journalists Jamie Jackson and Will Unwin, the club is also interested in Fulham’s Kenny Tete, who becomes a free agent this month.
Alongside Tete, West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters are also being considered as possible signings.
Everton Target Wolves’ £17 Million Striker
But strengthening the defense is not Moyes’ only priority. He is also searching for a new centre-forward, with fresh names emerging in the transfer market.
Spanish outlet AS reports that Everton are tracking Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto.
The 24-year-old Brazilian forward is expected to leave Corinthians this summer after a prolific run in the Brazilian league.
While Everton are among the clubs monitoring his situation, they face stiff competition from Serie A’s AS Roma and La Liga’s Atlético Madrid, with the Spanish side reportedly holding a slight edge.
Scout Jacek Kulig has described Alberto as a “dangerous” attacker. The striker enjoyed an outstanding 2024, netting 31 goals in all competitions for Corinthians.
Remarkably, despite his scoring record, Alberto could be available for about €20 million — approximately £17 million.
Everton aren’t the only Premier League club chasing Alberto. Earlier this year, Nottingham Forest reportedly made contact regarding a move, and Wolves and West Ham are also said to have submitted offers for the young forward.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin likely to leave Everton, the need for a new striker has become increasingly urgent — making Alberto a prime target for Moyes’ side.
