Ryan Hardie Aims to Keep Scoring Streak Alive After Joining Wrexham
Ryan Hardie has his sights set on continuing his goal-scoring form after becoming Wrexham’s first signing of the summer.
The 28-year-old striker joins from Plymouth Argyle for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract that runs through the 2027–28 season.
Hardie, who originally signed for Argyle on loan in January 2020 before making the move permanent, has hit double figures in goals in each of the past four seasons.
Now, he’s determined to maintain that standard with Phil Parkinson’s side.
“Hitting double figures is the minimum target I set for myself each season,” said Hardie, who netted 74 goals in 248 appearances for Plymouth, who were relegated from the Championship last term.
“Once you hit that milestone, the goal is to keep pushing and see how many more you can get. Hopefully, I can make it five in a row this year.”
Hardie brings with him valuable experience from the Championship, where he’s played for the past two seasons. As Wrexham prepare for their first campaign in the second tier following a remarkable third consecutive promotion, Hardie hopes to hit the ground running.
“I’ve scored 22 goals in the Championship over the last two seasons, plus a few in the cups,” he said.
“That was while playing in a team struggling near the bottom, so I’m confident I can deliver even more if we’re playing on the front foot.”
With Plymouth dropping to League One, Hardie was keen to stay in the Championship and made that a priority when weighing up his next move.
“Relegation last season was tough, but as soon as it happened, I spoke with my representatives about staying at the highest level possible,” he explained.
“When Wrexham came calling, it was a no-brainer. The ambition here is clear, and I wanted to be part of it.”
As for what Wrexham fans can expect, Hardie promises energy, work rate, and a relentless attitude in front of goal.
“You’re getting a hard-working player who’s a bit of a menace for defenders,” he said.
“I chase every loose ball and don’t switch off on dead plays. My game is built on effort, running in behind, and pulling defenders out of position. I want to score goals, create chances, and help the team by constantly threatening on the last line.”
Hardie’s arrival signals intent from Wrexham as they gear up for the Championship, and the striker is eager to play a leading role in their next chapter.
