Leeds United boss Daniel Farke is ready to show one player the door — and it’s all because of a move that stunned the club in 2023. Fans favourite star now on the chopping block after a controversial choice last year that left the manager furious.

Find out why Farke has lost all patience and how Leeds could take a massive financial hit just to get rid of him…

Leeds United Set to Offload Maximilian Wöber This Summer

Leeds United are reportedly preparing to part ways with defender Maximilian Wöber during the current transfer window, with discussions underway with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

Farke No Longer Counting on Wöber

Austrian journalist Peter Linden reports that Wöber no longer figures in manager Daniel Farke’s plans.

The relationship between the player and manager has reportedly deteriorated since Wöber opted to leave the club on loan following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship in 2023 — a decision that didn’t sit well with Farke.

Wöber spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, rather than helping Leeds attempt an immediate return to the Premier League. Although a talented defender, his choice to move on at a critical time seems to have sealed his fate at Elland Road.

Potential Bargain Exit

Leeds are unlikely to recover the £11 million they spent on Wöber in 2023. Linden suggests the club may accept a significantly reduced fee, with the player potentially available for just £3.5 million.

With regular playing time a top priority, Wöber is expected to seek assurances from any potential suitor. At 26, he’s still in his prime and will be aiming to join a competitive team where he can play a key role.

His opportunity to feature in the Premier League with Leeds may have passed, and his previous choices appear to have ended his chances of reviving his career at the club.
