Jude Bellingham has spoken about Marc Guehi after their crucial contributions in England’s match against Slovakia, which helped save England’s Euro 2024 campaign.

England narrowly advanced to the Last 16, defeating Slovakia in extra time. Jude Bellingham equalized in injury time with a spectacular overhead kick, followed by Harry Kane’s decisive goal in extra time.

“Look, even Marc there, just trying to slip away and that, he’s just like the most humble guy ever, isn’t he? He thinks I’m just going to let him get away with a little handshake after he’s set up the most important goal in my life.

“I’m really big on giving people their flowers, especially when they’ve been as good as he has so far this tournament.

“He’s set up a goal which is so important to us as a team and still, he’s trying to squirm away and get out of there and I’m like, ‘Nah, you’re coming with me.’”

Bellingham continued to praise Guehi’s assist for the equalizer.

“[I] was praying for a flick, really, hoping that someone can get something on it. Marc with probably the best flick-on header in England history.

“He will never take any credit for it but I think it’s important that he knows how appreciative I am and the team are of his contribution.”

Bellingham also noted Guehi’s maturity, describing him as an old soul with significant experience despite his young age.

“He’s only a little bit older than me, but when you speak to him and when you’re around him, you get the idea that he’s 40 and he’s played like three careers.”

Before the tournament, there were numerous rumors about Guehi’s potential departure, with several clubs interested in him. A fee of around £60m was mentioned, but with no release clause, Palace could easily retain him. His impressive performances in the Euros have likely increased his value by another £10m.

This could push Guehi’s asking price close to what Everton wants for Jarrad Branthwaite, a player with less experience and pedigree.

As it stands, Palace might keep Guehi this summer due to his high value and the significant interest from multiple clubs already making center-back moves.
