Crystal Palace’s No. 12, Daniel Munoz, delivered an outstanding performance against Brazil in the Copa America on Wednesday.
Already notable for scoring in Colombia’s 2-1 win over Paraguay in Group D, Munoz added another goal in the 1-1 draw with Brazil, ensuring Colombia topped Group D. He also effectively contained Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Post-match, Vinicius Junior, impressed by Munoz’s performance, was seen embracing him in the tunnel. During an interview, the £6.8m Crystal Palace defender asked Vinicius for his shirt, to which the Brazilian responded, “I’m going to send it to you.”
According to Toque Sports, Munoz had an exceptional game. SofaScore statistics show he made six successful tackles, completed 97% of his passes, and recorded one interception and one clearance, with his 47th-minute goal capping a superb performance.
Munoz, who joined Crystal Palace from KRC Genk in January, has quickly become a fan favorite. Despite rumors of his dream move to Barcelona, losing him would be a significant blow for Crystal Palace. However, any potential departure would likely result in a substantial profit on the £6.8m investment, a deal now regarded as a bargain.
