There were no Tottenham Hotspur players representing England at this summer’s Euros.
Typically, Harry Kane would be the Spurs representative on international duty, but he transferred to Bayern Munich last summer. James Maddison was also left out of England’s final Euro 2024 squad, leaving Spurs without any representation as the team experienced yet another disappointing outcome in Berlin on Sunday.
England lost to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, and, in truth, they have little reason to complain as their performance was lackluster throughout the tournament, including the final match.
In terms of style, team build-up, on-field tactics, and bravery on the ball, Spain and England were in entirely different leagues.
One would have expected Tottenham’s English players to be representing their country and hoping for a win.
From Tottenham’s new signing Archie Gray to the previously axed player, they would all have been looking to support their nation. Interestingly, Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma, a Tottenham player, showed his support for England.
With Tottenham back in pre-season, Bissouma likely watched the England vs. Spain final from his home in London. He posted several Instagram stories of himself wearing an England shirt and a Three Lions hat, sharing a video clip of his reaction to the defeat.
Bissouma seemed genuinely upset with the result, expressing disbelief and urging fans to support the England players for their efforts.

“I can’t believe it,” Bissouma said, shaking his head in disbelief.
“I am so sad right now. Oh my God. That’s crazy. I think the better team won. Sad. I am sad.
“But I think the guys worked really hard, so we need to support them. They wanted to win as well. It’s life, it’s cruel. Oh, come on boys. It’s hard.”
James Maddison should count himself lucky
Although Maddison would have been disappointed to be left out of the final squad, he couldn’t complain too much given his poor form and the high competition.
However, he should consider himself lucky as England’s performances were generally poor. While they reached the final, their efforts paled in comparison to Spain, who displayed confidence and showcased their skills to the world.
Many are now questioning whether Gareth Southgate will remain in charge of England, with sources telling HITC that a change is expected.
