James Maddison was very close to joining England for their EUROs trip to Berlin, having been named in the provisional 33-man squad before the tournament.

Despite Maddison’s absence, England reached the final, facing Spain in Berlin. Spain had won all six of their games leading up to the final. Southgate’s team fell short, losing 2-1.

Bissouma appeared deflated after England’s loss
As reported by HITC, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma appeared devastated by the Three Lions’ loss, despite none of his Spurs teammates being in the squad.
Bissouma, who has lived in England for six years since joining Brighton from Lille in 2018, posted a picture of himself in a retro England shirt, with another retro kit wrapped around his head.
He was filmed expressing his sadness at the result, saying, “I can’t believe it. I am so sad right now. Oh my god. That’s crazy. I think the better team won. Sad, I am sad.”
Bissouma then urged fans to support England’s players, stating, “but I think the guys worked really hard, so we need to support them. They wanted to win as well. It’s life, it’s cruel. Oh, come on boys. It’s hard.”
Tottenham’s Malian midfielder may have been sympathizing with his former teammate Harry Kane, whose wait for a trophy continued as he was substituted just after an hour had passed in the final.
