Gangwon’s “next Son Heung-min,” Min-hyuk Yang, is set to join Tottenham Hotspur. The 18-year-old South Korean winger, known for playing on either flank, has caught the attention of European clubs with his impressive performances in the K League, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 24 appearances this season.
Yang will undergo a medical and sign with Spurs, but will remain with Gangwon FC until January. South Korean football expert Sungmo Lee, speaking to Football London, highlighted Yang’s potential, noting that he is the best young player in the K League and still a high school student. Gangwon offered him a professional contract, a first in K League history, due to his exceptional talent. Yang has won the ‘young player of the month’ award three times consecutively from April to June and is praised for his dribbling and finishing skills, drawing comparisons to Son Heung-min.
Yang’s addition will strengthen Spurs’ youth setup as technical director Johan Lange and manager Ange Postecoglou work to make the club an attractive option for young talents. Spurs are preparing for a pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe in Japan, followed by their Premier League opener against newly-promoted Leicester City next month.
