Goals from Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, and Lewis Hall secured the win in Saitama, marking the team’s second match of the summer following their earlier victory over Hull City before heading to Japan.
Despite not being very active in the summer transfer market, Newcastle has shown strong form on the pitch. However, Eddie Howe made another statement about transfers following the win over the Japanese side.
After the match, Howe acknowledged ongoing transfer issues, particularly with Paul Mitchell working hard to secure the club’s first major signing since his appointment. Howe remains hopeful for new additions, responding with a simple “I hope so” when asked about any imminent signings.
This isn’t the first time Howe has expressed concerns to the Newcastle board regarding transfers. He faced a challenging 2023/24 season with a squad impacted by injuries, highlighting the need for reinforcements. Howe has emphasized the importance of feeling supported by the club, especially amid rumors linking him to the vacant England managerial role. He stated that as long as he feels supported and free to work as he wishes, he remains committed to Newcastle.
