JUST IN: Alasdair Gold reveals what he knows about Tottenham’s interest in Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a striker this summer has brought them to Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

Over Tottenham’s four pre-season friendlies, it has become clear that they are likely to start the new season without a natural striker. Richarlison, their closest option, is sidelined with an injury, a recurring issue from his 2023/24 campaign.

Ange Postecoglou faces a busy season and needs a squad full of quality in all positions.

What Alasdair Gold has heard about Dominic Solanke to Tottenham
This summer, Dejan Kulusevski has occasionally played as the number nine in friendlies, showcasing his versatility and scoring on Wednesday. However, he is not a natural goalscorer, prompting Fabrizio Romano to report Tottenham’s interest in Dominic Solanke.

According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham have long admired the Bournemouth striker. Gold mentioned that he and Guesty frequently discuss on the podcast how well Solanke would fit Postecoglou’s system, despite the high cost and difficulty of signing him.

The major issue with any deal for Solanke is the price, as Bournemouth will not let their prized asset go cheaply.

What Jurgen Klopp has said about Dominic Solanke
There may be doubts about Tottenham’s interest given Solanke’s overall Premier League record, with only 29 goals in 139 appearances. However, 19 of those goals came last season, showing his potential.

Jurgen Klopp, his former manager, told BBC Sport in January, “He was probably not the most clinical yet but the talent was obvious. It was the right decision to go to Bournemouth. Last season he scored enough goals but this season he is up there with the greatest. He is a really talented kid, I’m very happy for him.”
