Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a significant update on Dominic Solanke. Tottenham has been actively pursuing Solanke, with Postecoglou viewing the Englishman as a suitable addition to his front three. Although Bournemouth hopes to keep Solanke, Romano reported that the striker is ready to join Spurs.
Romano stated on X that Tottenham is pushing to sign Solanke and that talks have begun. Crucially, Solanke has given the “green light” for a move to North London, marking an important step for Spurs.
Romano’s update read: “Understand Tottenham are pushing to get Dominic Solanke deal done, talks underway with Bournemouth. Solanke has given the green light to Spurs as negotiations are ongoing to find an agreement. Tottenham want Solanke, as exclusively revealed last week.”
Tottenham fans will now hope the club can agree on personal terms with Solanke, who is evidently keen on the move. The main obstacle may be Solanke’s £65m release clause, raising questions about whether Spurs consider the price tag to be good value.
For a similar amount, Tottenham might pursue a striker like Viktor Gyokeres, known for his impressive scoring record in Portugal. Some fans may view the 26-year-old Solanke as a better fit for Postecoglou due to his effective pressing, while others might believe Gyokeres or another high-profile name could be a more ambitious option.
