Leeds United remain in contention to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan from Crystal Palace this month, despite Sheffield United seemingly closing in on a deal.
With just over 24 hours until their Championship season opener, Daniel Farke still has plenty of work to do in the transfer window. The departure of Crysencio Summerville has left a significant gap in the squad that needs to be filled by a quality winger before August 30, and the club appears to be actively seeking a replacement.
Sheffield United seemed close to securing a loan deal for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. According to The Standard, the Blades were negotiating a deal with Palace that includes a recall clause and a £1 million fee for his services.
However, Sky Sports now reports that Leeds and Hull City are still in the race, having also agreed to the terms of a loan deal with the Premier League club.
While Chris Wilder’s side remains the frontrunner, Rak-Sakyi has yet to make a final decision on where he’ll play for the 24/25 season.
Rak-Sakyi would be an excellent loan signing for any team in the league. There aren’t many wingers available on loan this summer with a better chance to excel than Rak-Sakyi. Sheffield United appear to have made some smart moves, considering the circumstances of their takeover, and Rak-Sakyi would be their best addition so far.
However, if Leeds were to secure the deal, it would be a significant boost in strengthening their attacking options, particularly with a natural right-winger in the squad.
