"He scores a lot of goals, so I’d love to compete for the Golden Boot, but when it comes to Erling Haaland, I think..." - Jarrod Bowen reveals whether he believes he can actually outscore Erling Haaland in the Premier League this season.

Erling Haaland is widely regarded as the favorite to retain the Premier League Golden Boot this season. Matt Holland even predicted that Haaland will surpass his own record of 36 goals by netting an impressive 37 during the 2024/2025 campaign.

On The Overlap’s Stick To Football show, pundits including Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Ian Wright, and Jill Scott all backed the Manchester City striker to win the Golden Boot again. Diogo Jota echoed this sentiment, describing Haaland as “scary,” reflecting the high regard in which he’s held by fellow players.

At just 24 years old, Haaland’s prowess is undeniable, commanding respect from top strikers across Europe. Jan Aage Fjortoft predicted Haaland could score as many as 45 goals this season, pointing to his rest during Euro 2024 as a factor in his potential success.

Jarrod Bowen, while discussing his own Golden Boot ambitions, acknowledged Haaland’s dominance in the Premier League. Speaking to Sky Sports, Bowen admitted that competing with the likes of Haaland, Dominic Solanke, Alexander Isak, and Ollie Watkins for the top scorer title would be a challenge.

Bowen expressed his desire to score as many goals as possible but realistically acknowledged that the Golden Boot might be out of reach due to Haaland’s prolific form. Last season, Bowen studied Haaland’s game as David Moyes transitioned him into a central striker role, highlighting Haaland’s influence on his peers.

Haaland has redefined goal-scoring standards in the Premier League since joining Manchester City, making him the benchmark for others. As he prepares to face Chelsea on Sunday, Haaland will be aiming to live up to his reputation once again.
