Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest fan has declared that the squad needs a 90s hero to win the Premier League—but doubts there will ever be another like him.
Britt, 26, from Lancashire, is a passionate Spurs supporter who has been loyal to the North London club since birth, following in the footsteps of her family. She is known for making the trek to see the team play at home and once famously gambled away her car in support of the club, which has yet to win the Premier League trophy.
Despite her deep commitment, Britt believes she knows the key to Spurs’ success—though it might involve a bit of fantasy. With the transfer window nearing its end, Britt exclusively shared her wish for a surprise comeback of Paul Gascoigne.
She said, “If we could have Prime Gascoigne in our current squad, we’d be unstoppable. I’d love to see him back if it were possible, but I don’t think we’ll ever see another player like him.”
While a comeback from the 57-year-old Gascoigne is unlikely, Britt also controversially supports the idea of signing players from Arsenal. Her reasoning isn’t solely about strengthening the team but also about riling up Arsenal fans.
Britt continued, “It would be great to sign an Arsenal player; they’ve taken a few decent players from us over the years, so it would be nice for it to go the other way. It would infuriate Arsenal fans, which is always fun, and imagine the reaction if they scored against Arsenal. However, I’d prefer we didn’t sign Arsenal players, as there are others who fit Spurs and Ange’s style better.”
Despite her enthusiasm, Britt worries that, regardless of bringing back Gascoigne or poaching Arsenal players, her beloved team may never win the Premier League due to what she sees as a “curse.”
She remains hopeful about potential signings, such as the reported new contract for 16-year-old Mikey Moore. Britt is optimistic that these new additions will help address the team’s past shortcomings.
She said, “We need to break this odd curse that seems to hang over us. We either have a curse or there’s some football conspiracy theory at play. We’ve seen some of the new and younger players during pre-season, and they seem like they could fill the gaps that let us down last season. We need to maintain good performance even with injuries. Although, replacing Van De Ven is impossible, so we might just have to wrap him in bubble wrap instead.”
