“I don’t think Villa has ever had the best player in a particular position during my lifetime. It’s brilliant that the club has secured this, and although his contract wasn’t close to expiring, I appreciate that they’ve rewarded him.
“They’ve recognized they have a top goalkeeper and are doing everything they can to keep him happy, which is absolutely fantastic.”
