Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier has reportedly expressed his desire to leave the club before the transfer window closes.
With Tino Livramento expected to be Eddie Howe’s first-choice right-back for the upcoming season, Trippier is facing the prospect of spending more time on the bench—a situation he’s not willing to accept at this stage of his career, which is understandable.
Trippier was previously linked with a move to Bayern Munich in January, but that deal didn’t materialize. Rumors of a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia have persisted for months, but now it seems Everton could be his next destination, with the Toffees reportedly interested in securing a loan deal for the 33-year-old.
Following the news, Sean Dyche held his pre-match press conference and was asked about the speculation surrounding Trippier.

Dyche, who previously worked with a younger Trippier at Burnley, knows the quality of player he’d be getting. However, he played down the speculation, suggesting that Trippier is just one of several options the club is considering, as reported by Liverpool World.
“He’s one of many names that have come up here; it’s interesting how his name appears just when we don’t have a right-back, isn’t it? The club seems quite firm with the business we’ve done so far, but football is unpredictable—who knows what might happen? Overall, I think we’re in a place where everyone acknowledges our current situation.
“I think it’s unlikely [when asked about further signings]; we’ve brought in players who we believe can develop into Premier League talents, though they may not be ready to make an immediate impact. Take Tim’s [Iroegbunam] record—he only had about two games’ worth of league minutes last season, Jesper [Lindstrom] had about eight, and Iliman [Ndiaye] around 17, so they have a long way to go to reach full Premier League readiness.”
Dyche downplays the club’s interest in Trippier
While Dyche downplayed the links, suggesting the club’s transfer business might be done for the summer, it’s clear that he wouldn’t pass up the chance to bring Trippier to Everton for a season.
With only about a week left before the transfer window closes, clubs will need to move quickly if they want to secure a deal for Trippier.
Similarly, Newcastle must also act swiftly to finalize their own transfer targets, though quick action hasn’t been a strong suit for the club so far.
