Tottenham are reportedly prepared to spend £26 million to secure the signing of Brazilian full-back Vanderson.
The North London club has strengthened their attack and midfield during the current transfer window but has yet to significantly reinforce their defense. While Tottenham has been in discussions to bring in another center-back, they are also actively seeking a new right-back.
According to a report from L’Équipe, Spurs have expressed interest in Vanderson and are ready to offer £26 million for the Brazilian defender.
Although Pedro Porro is Ange Postecoglou’s preferred choice at right-back, Tottenham is still searching for additional options on the right side following Emerson Royal’s departure. Despite having Djed Spence as a backup and summer signing Archie Gray, who can also play as a right-back, Spurs are looking for a high-quality full-back to add competition for the starting spot.
Postecoglou believes Vanderson could challenge Porro for a place in the starting XI. The Brazilian full-back has gained recognition for his consistent performances with AS Monaco, and Tottenham is keen to lure the 23-year-old away from the French club. The report suggests Spurs are “ready” to pay £26 million for the South American star, who signed a new contract earlier this year.
Monaco president Dmitry Rybolovlev rarely turns down such offers, and with the club recently signing 24-year-old Dutch full-back Jordan Teze, they appear poised to cash in on Vanderson.
