Good News; Top Journalist provides major update which will delight Newcastle fans

Marc Guehi’s future is expected to be determined within the next 48 hours as Crystal Palace and Newcastle continue their discussions regarding the England international, according to reports.

Newcastle has targeted the 24-year-old as their primary summer acquisition, but an agreement with Palace has not yet been reached. The Magpies have had four offers for the center-back turned down, with Palace reportedly valuing Guehi between £65-£70 million. Newcastle has not submitted a new offer following their most recent bid’s rejection.

Guehi’s future to be settled soon
Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, Newcastle has accumulated four points from their first two Premier League matches and has yet to make a significant signing.

However, Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel has provided an important update on Guehi’s situation. Mokbel reports that Guehi’s future is likely to be decided in the next 48 hours, with a strong possibility that Newcastle’s next formal offer will be accepted.

Mokbel posted on X.com:

“Marc Guehi’s future set to be resolved in the next 48 hours following more talks between Crystal Palace and Newcastle. Significant chance now the next formal offer is accepted. More on @MailSport.”

Guehi, who joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021, impressed during Euro 2024 and has attracted interest from other clubs. Although there were rumors of a move to Liverpool, it now seems Guehi will either join Newcastle or stay at Palace, where he is contracted until 2026.

Having made 113 appearances for Palace, Guehi’s departure would trigger a 20% sell-on fee to Chelsea, due to a clause in the transfer agreement. Losing Guehi late in the window, especially after Joachim Andersen’s departure, would force Palace into a time-sensitive search for replacements for their first-choice center-back pairing from last season.
