Leeds United are preparing for a busy final stretch of the summer transfer window, with only a few days remaining to complete their transactions.
So far, Leeds have signed Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell, Largie Ramazani, Alex Cairns, and Jayden Bogle to enhance Daniel Farke’s squad. Meanwhile, Charlie Cresswell, Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter have left Elland Road on permanent transfers.
With the transfer deadline approaching on Friday, Leeds are reportedly targeting a new Premier League signing. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are considering a late move for English full-back Max Aarons from Bournemouth.
The report mentions that Aarons, who previously had a medical at Thorp Arch last summer before moving from Norwich City to Bournemouth, is once again a target for Leeds. Aarons did not feature in Bournemouth’s Premier League draw against Newcastle on Sunday, which may make a transfer more feasible.
Securing Aarons would be a significant boost for Farke, who previously managed him at Norwich City. Aarons is a versatile defender capable of playing right-back, left-back, or further forward on the right flank. Farke gave Aarons his senior debut and the player made 141 appearances under him at Norwich, with Christoph Zimmermann being the only player to have played more matches for Farke.
During his time with Norwich, Aarons won the Championship twice and was named in the PFA Team of the Year in both the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons. Last season, he made 20 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth and won 60% of his ground duels, highlighting his defensive capabilities.
Aarons would provide strong competition for Jayden Bogle, who has already conceded one penalty in three games, and offer valuable backup to Junior Firpo on the other side. His familiarity with Farke and his proven track record make him an ideal target for Leeds.
