Andy Walker lauds ‘perfect’ Everton ace Dwight McNeil after what he did v Bournemouth

Andy Walker was impressed by Dwight McNeil’s assist to Dominic Calvert-Lewin for his goal, despite Everton’s 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.

Walker praised the precision of McNeil’s pass, which allowed Calvert-Lewin to score and seemingly secure victory for Everton on August 31. However, the win slipped away in the closing minutes.

On the USA Network, Walker emphasized that with such service, Calvert-Lewin will consistently score goals for Sean Dyche. “The pass was perfectly placed for Calvert-Lewin,” Walker said. “His composure to lift it over the goalkeeper provided Everton with a crucial two-goal lead.”

Everton has struggled both at the end of last season and the start of the new campaign. Despite a promising pre-season, their 2024/25 Premier League start has been disappointing, leaving them at the bottom of the table and causing frustration among fans, with some calling for Dyche’s dismissal.

Striker form was a major issue last season, leading to the signing of Armando Broja [Liverpool ECHO, August 31]. The arrival of Iliman Ndiaye has also been beneficial due to his chance creation, but it hasn’t been enough to turn things around.

Although it’s still early in the season, Calvert-Lewin will need to find his scoring form to help Everton avoid another relegation struggle.
