Sunderland are leading the Championship table after the first month of the 2024/25 season, and one of their new signings has notably impressed.
Regis Le Bris has made an exceptional start as Sunderland’s head coach, winning all four of his opening games in the Championship. Despite selling Jack Clarke to Ipswich Town towards the end of the transfer window, the squad appears stronger than last season due to several key summer acquisitions.
Alan Browne has made an immediate impact, while new arrivals Ahmed Abdullahi, Wilson Isidor, and Salis Abdul Samed are eagerly awaiting their chance to contribute at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland’s young squad has been impressive, topping the table after winning their first four league matches and conceding just once.
Football League World’s Sunderland fan pundit, Eddy Bamber, has highlighted the signing of Alan Browne as the club’s standout transfer move. Bamber praised Browne, who joined Sunderland on a free transfer from Preston North End, for his leadership and experience. He compared Browne’s influence to that of Lee Cattermole during George Honeyman’s captaincy, noting Browne’s ability to guide and motivate his teammates.

He played a role in Sunderland’s victory over Portsmouth, assisted in wins against Cardiff City and Burnley, and with 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland, Browne’s Championship experience is set to be a valuable asset for Le Bris this season.
